Bye 2013...

Last day of 2013... Time to look back, examine what was good and what was bad... and than... move on!

For me 2013 overall wasn't a very good year (a lot of soul-searching, feeling powerlessness about some things, etc.) but since I decide to focus on positive, here are only some of good stuff ;)

Photos are from my Instagram account.

HEALTH & FITNESS
Mybe it sounds superfluous but I'm so grateful that I'm healthy! I take time for my body and exercise regularly even though my schedule can be quite hectic. I also try to eat more heathy and in moderation.

LOVE
The best man I ever met, my love, my better half. Words can even explain how much I love him. Btw, we're celebrating our 100th monthsary today. I know it's just a number but it's kind of cool! <3

BLOG
Despite work, time for my loved ones, workouts and other stuff I still write blog ever day. If it would be possible, I would definitely write even more. Dedicated? Yes!

SELF IMPROVEMENT
Working and learning about myself is very big deal for me and I think I made a progress. Didn't stop yet though!

CONQUER FEAR
Finally took a chance in things I tought I wasn't good enough and took every opportunity I've got. Some fail but at least I can say I tried.

NATURE, ANIMALS, MUSIC, FOOD
Time spend in nature, with animals, listening to music and enjoying food (in good company of course) are always amazing. I really cherish those moments!

I hope year 2013 was great for you. If not, I'm sure you've experienced good thing also. Focous on them!

Celebrities recap 2013

I love show business entertainment but in a positive not gossip and trashy way. I know what is going on, I always had my favorite celebrities, people who inspired me but through years I also learned how to read all these media stuff properly, with a certain distance and critical acknowledgement.

What I love most is to read, listen and watch interviews with actors, musicians and artists but we all know, it's hard to avoid gossip. And because end of the year is almost here... my quick celebrity recap of year 2013.

FAVORITE CELEBRITY OF THE YEAR: Benedict Cumberbatch. One word: obsessed! What a brilliant actor he is! If you didn't watch tv series Sherlock, do that! Only two more days till seson 3 begins! Benedict was also amazing in Star Trek Into Darkness and lend his voice to dragon Smaug in Hobbit 2. I must watch also his recent films: 12 Years a Slave, The Fifth Estate and August: Osage County.

FAVORITE COUPLE(S): Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger, Kate Beckinsale and Len Wiseman, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston. I think they are so adorable, hot and in love of course.

Movie review - Don Jon (2013)

Don Jon (2013) / romance, comedy

Directed and Screenplay by Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Sttaring: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore, Rob Brown, Glenne Headly, Brie Larson, Tony Danza, Jeremy Luke
Trailer: click.

PLOT
Italian American Jon Martello (Gordon-Levitt) only cares for his body, pad, ride, family, church, his boys, his girls and porn. Although he has an active sex life, he simply can't resist pornography. But can that change after he meets Barbara Sugarman (Scarlett Johansson) or even him doesn't realise that he has a problem?

REVIEW
Don Jon is Gordon-Levitt's feature directorial debut and I'm happy to say it: he did a fine confident job! Congrats! He points out and amplifies sex and relationship extremes of both: men's visual obsessions and women's over fantasizing fairy tales romances. And he does that in the honest way, without hollywood sugar-coated words and stereotypical viewpoints. Yet it's believable story and has a message (again without moralizing). It's straightforward and real. Good and bad thing are hidden in characters. They are all just average humans and no one is really likeable. Untypical ending is great but you'll have to see it for yourself (I don't want to give it away). Another sex addiction movie, but this one is lighter in tone most of the time and very watchable. Entertaining refreshing breeze I would definitely recommend you to see. 4/5

Movie review - Thanks for Sharing (2012)

Thanks for Sharing (2012) / drama, comedy

Directed by Stuart Blumberg
Screenplay by Stuart Blumberg and Matt Winston
Starring: Mark Ruffalo, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tim Robbins, Joely Richardson, Patrick Fugit, Josh Gad, Alecia Moore or better known by Pink, Carol Kane, Michaela Watkins, Emily Meade, Poorna Jagannathan
Trailer: click.

PLOT
We get to know and follow three disparate characters who are learning to face a challenging world of their sex addiction. Adam (Mark Ruffalo) is 5 years sober and finds himself in a possible relationship with Phoebe (Gwyneth Paltrow); Mike (Tim Robbins) is Adam's sponsor who has his hands full with the sudden arrival of son Danny (Patrick Fugit) and newbie young doctor Neil (Josh Gad) who starts the program and develop a friendly relationship with a fellow female member Dede (Pink). They all face ups and downs but will they stayed on the road of recovery and gain/remain the freedom or will they fall off the wagon?

REVIEW
I'll start by saying: Don't expect movie to be romantic comedy because it's definitely not. It's more of a drama with comedic elements but none of them really touches you. You know what they want to accomplish but it's not quite working (drama + comedy). The interesting thing for me is that storyline is touching and acting it's good but still, I'm not feeling it. Chemistry between Adam and Phoebe is really good, Mike and Danny's story is nice, Pink made a solid acting debut, you get to know sex addiction is a real disease... But everything is too simplified, superficial and not emotionally enough. That would be my main critic, plus sequences didn't blend together very well. Screenplay has some good stuff yet on the other hand some really cheesy, predictable stuff. Nevertheless, film is accessible, a crowd pleaser worth watching. 3/5

Movie review - The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013)

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013) / adventure, fantasy, action

Directed by Peter Jackson
Screenplay by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, Peter Jackson and Guillermo del Toro
Based on The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien
Starring: Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Benedict Cumberbatch, Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lilly, Aidan Turner, Lee Pace, Luke Evans, Ken Stott, James Nesbitt, Graham McTavish, Dean O'Gorman, Cate Blanchett
Trailer: click.

PLOT
Where we left off to say simply. Film continues to follow the journey of Thorin, Bilbo and Company through Mirkwood, Laketown and into Smaug's Lair.

REVIEW
Firstly:
1. The Hobbit movies are not like LOTR trilogy and they are NOT a sequel to the LOTR trilogy
2. Films are NOT the same as the book and before going in, it is important to realize that this is not simply 'the movie of the book'. Jackson's Hobbit trilogy is based on the 1930s children's book, basic motivations are the same but beyond that, it's Peter's film (darker tone and more fantasy action)!
3. If you still have hard time because movies are in three parts: get over it!

The second film is more confident, with faster pace, exciting and superior to the previous. Where the first movie didn't quite deliver, this one does! Film is definitely a huge improvement on the previous instalment. Adventure is bigger and bolder, the danger is ever more present, full of details, beautiful sets, costumes and most impressive CGI. We get introduce to new characters and spend enough time with them to fall in love with them (Thranduil, Tauriel, Bard). I loved Tauriel's (Evangeline Lily) strong character. Plus she adds a much needed feminine touch. On the other hand we also see old character growth (especially from Bilbo). It was so nice to see Legolas (Orlando Bloom) again, even if he is not in the book. Whole cast is great!

There are many scenes I love, for example, Gandalf's scenes in Dol Guldur but when Smaug entered... Aaaaamaaazing! I think Smaug is the best-designed movie dragon ever! I'm so impressed! He is as awesome as you could have hoped and I simply can't rave enough about him! And than you have voice of Benedict Cumberbatch! He is excellent! And the ending! You want more! Just brilliant!

Next thing. Peter of course! It’s pleasing to watch a filmmaker this in love and committed with storytelling and creating entire worlds. I respect the man so much!

Negatives. My biggest complaint is about interactions but I can understand how hard it is to include everything. There are 13 dwarfs and a hobbit and yet you rarely see them interact. The other thing are added subplots. Some of them were totally unnecessary and don't add much to the story. Like romance between elf Tauriel and dwarf Kili. For me it was a bit forced.

Yes, it's also crowd-pleaser but so enjoyable! We all know second/middle movies can be tricky but this one is just brilliant! All things considered. I'm a fan and I looooved it! Can't wait to see the final chapter in this absolutely amazing Hobbit masterpiece by Peter Jackson! 2013 must see film! 5/5
