Movie review - Sisters (2015)

Sisters (2015) / comedy

Directed by Jason Moore
Written by Paula Pell
Produced by Tina Fey and Jay Roach
Starring: Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Ike Barinholtz , Dianne Wiest, James Brolin, John Leguizamo,
Trailer: click.

Friday flick!

PLOT
Two sisters, Maura (Amy Poehler) and Kate (Tina Fey) decide to throw one last house party before their parents sell their family home.

REVIEW
For me first half of this comedy felt a bit forced but than got more relaxed and fun. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler just have this cool crazy dynamic chemistry and make sure you will have a laugh or two. Otherwise is a pretty average film but one of those when you can just seat and relax. 3/5

Last week's favorite looks (January 11-17)

Yeeey! I'm back with weekly posts called last week's favorite looks! Here are three looks that I noticed last week (January 11-17).

Jessica Biel attended the inaugural Marie Claire Image Maker Awards at Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood, California. She looked beautiful in a Dolce&Gabbana dress and bag, Giuseppe Zanotti shoes and Jennifer Meyer jewelry. What a cool dress!

Saoirse Ronan joined MoMa’s Celeste Bartos Chief Curator, Rajendra Roy, at the screening of Brooklyn held at Museum of Modern Art in New York City. She wore a Laura Basci ensemble with Christian Louboutin heels and David Webb jewels.

Allison Williams at the Vandal Restaurant Grand Opening in New York City. Casual yet chic.

Movie review - Carol (2015)

Carol (2015) / drama, romance

Directed by Todd Haynes
Screenplay by Phyllis Nagy
Based on The Price of Salt by Patricia Highsmith
Produced by Elizabeth Karlsen, Stephen Woolley and Christine Vachon
Starring: Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Sarah Paulson, Kyle Chandler, Jake Lacy
Trailer: click.

One of the most overrated movies in 2015!

PLOT
Set in 1952 in New York City, the film tells the story of a young aspiring photographer Therese (Rooney Mara) and her relationship with an older woman Carol (Cate Blanchett) going through a difficult divorce.

REVIEW
Is it just me or this film is a bit overrated? I agree that Cate was excellent and Rooney was solid as well, coustumes were on point and they captured the time period (beautiful old-fashioned) but I was just not that impressed. The thing I was missing most was the emotional connection between the characters. Main actresses are amazing in their own role but their chemistry fails. Also the story is not compelling enough and you don't really care what happenes to characters. Beautiful film in some ways but forgettable and quite dull. 3/5

Critics’ Choice Awards 2016 Recap + Blue carpet favorite looks

Here are my two pennies on 2016 Critics’ Choice Awards.

I care what critics write even though I don't always agree. For me the biggest surprise was that Mad Max: Fury Road won so many awards. Also tv series Fargo. I expected they would won some, not that many...

Moving forward to red/blue carpet and the outfits I like.

Rachel McAdams was sexy beautiful in a spaghetti-strapped ombre bordeau Elie Saab with a Bavna diamond ring and red lips.

Jennifer Jason Leigh opted for a black-and-white off-the-shoulder dress.

Aya Cash looked sophisticated in a Sandro tux, Sylva & Cie earrings and Jerome C. Rousseau shoes.

Krysten Ritter in a maroon Zuhair Murad Couture dress with silver beading, Jimmy Choo clutch and H. Stern earrings. Nice.

Liv Tyler showed off her baby bump in Cushnie et Ochs paired with Nicholas Kirkwood shoes and a Jimmy Choo clutch. She's still such a beauty.

Another sweet gal, Saoirse Ronan wore a stunning Antonio Berardi dress, Stephen Webster earrings and Brian Atwood heels.

Last but not least, two couples. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Jason Statham. Rosie wore Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane accessorized with Anita Ko earrings.

Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux. Jennifer also in a Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane dress & purse and Jimmy Choo shoes. I'm not a fan of the dress this time but I love them ;)

Are you happy about the winner? What stood out for you?

Surprisingly good!

PLOT
Based on a true story. Aging 1970s rocker Danny Collins (Al Pacino) cannot give up his hard-living ways but then his manager, Frank Grubman (Christopher Plummer), uncovers a 40-year-old undelivered letter to him from John Lennon. After reading the letter, Danny decides to change his way of life.

REVIEW
This is such a cool charming film. Al Pacino is just great and supporting cast did they job nice as well. It's a film about redemption but it's a heartfelt tale despite heavy moments. This movie is definitely one of the most underrated movies from last year. I love the story, the humor, the cast. It's not a cinematic perfection but it just works. Watch it! 4/5
