American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson (2016)

The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story

Terrific crime - courtroom drama!

What a great tv series this is! Wooow.
Firstly, the acting is superb, especially Sarah Paulson and Courtney B. Vance. Outstanding! Others are amazing to watch as well! And of course, the story. What a crazy story. I didn't know almost anything about the case to be honest and some things were just mind blowing to me. The show is directed fantastically and the writing is good. You feel the tention and they provoke passionate responses along the way for sure. Poweful piece of work that I would definitely recommend you to see! I was hooked right away. Excellent work to the cast and crew!

Movie review - Ice Age: Collision Course (2016)

Ice Age: Collision Course (2016) / animaion, adventure, comedy

Directed by Mike Thurmeier, Galen T. Chu
Produced by Lori Forte
Screenplay by Michael J. Wilson, Micheal Berg, Yoni Brenner
Story by Aubrey Solomon
Starring: Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Simon Pegg, Jennifer Lopez, Queen Latifah
Trailer: click.

Franchise that has run out of steam.

Don't get me wrong. I liked the film. It was cute and funny and animation is great without a doubt but everything else just doesn't feel right anymore. The new characters are not interesting enough, pointless bad guys, script is poor and the plot is generic. Entertaining but predictable and unnecessary. Decent but feels like this could be the last one. 3-/5

Happy birthday - Benedict Cumberbatch (40)

Happy (another) 40th Birthday! This time to one of my favorite actors Benedict Cumberbatch!

You can read more about him here.

Stay amazing Benedict and to many more awesome roles!

I guess there is no need to say I can't wait for new season of Sherlock and movie Dr. Strange! Aaaaa!

Happy birthday - Diane Kruger (40)

Happy 40th birthday to still one of my favorite ladies Diane Kruger!

I love her more and more because she speaks her mind and is involved in films not only because of the money. Recently she said: “What studios are producing is not really all that interesting to me anymore. I feel like television has taken over so much that there’s a whole new platform for actors and talent to grow.

She also shared her beauty secrets with The New York Times!“I’m probably more European in my thinking because of where I grew up: the ‘less is more’ philosophy,” Diane expressed. “My sunscreen habit is from living in L.A., though I don’t like to be tan like some of the people there. And when I go to New York, all the women are so on top of it. They have their dermatologists they see for this and that. I can’t keep up. I don’t even pluck my brows.

Can't wait to see her in The Infiltrator!

Movie review - Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (2016)

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (2016) / biographical war comedy-drama

Screenplay by Robert Carlock
Based on The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan by Kim Barker
Starring: Tina Fey, Margot Robbie, Martin Freeman, Alfred Molina, Christopher Abbott, Billy Bob Thornton

Satirical dark comedy.

There is something really weird and enjoyable about this film. It's a satirical look at the Afghanistan conflict and mix of all kind of genres. Good line between entertainment and horror also thanks to great acting and cast. Still thoroughly entertaining film: predictable and sweet. Refreshing! Already on my 2016 must see list!
Oh! And don't expect a Tina Fey's comedy that we are usually seeing. 4/5

Movie review - Independence Day: Resurgence (2016)

Sort of a remake: old plot, new actors.

I would say this is a (stereo)typical Hollywood blockbuster flick - bad but enjoyable. The plot is messy, cheesy, lacks emotional element and have no signs of intelligent life but on the other hand the film is visually good. One of those generic films for money where they make a sequel/reboot and there is just something missing. Isn't it sad we got used to it and that we find those kind of films actually solid? But I still think it could be worse. 3-/5

Movie review - Concussion (2015)

Concussion (2015) / drama

The other side of football.

This is interesting, compelling true story and well-acted drama that is for sure worth watching. For me it's always crazy to see this world that we're living and how in this case money and sports entertainment are beyond human lives and the truth. It doesn't hit as hard as it could and it's not powerful enough but still quite inspiring and watchable. Second part of the film is especially a waste of potential and yet it's still a solid movie! 3+/5

Movie review - Me Before You (2016)

Me Before You (2016) / romance, drama

Directed by Thea Sharrock
Produced by Alison Owen, Karen Rosenfelt
Screenplay by  Jojo Moyes
Based on Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
Starring: Emilia Clarke, Sam Claflin, Janet McTeer, Charles Dance, Brendan Coyle

Sugar-coated love story.

I'll confess. I'm a sucker for a good love story (like my fav P.S. I love you or The Fault in Our Stars) but this one falls flat for me. I felt like Lou was totally into Will, but him not so much. And I can't help but to roll my eyes when I see little things, like a girl that is so broke, urgently need a job, lives in the country and has an iphone. Make sense right? However I did like their chemisty, humour bits, the ending and that Sam was true to his decision. That part I did found realistic. But than again I felt many things in the film were materialistic driven. And what was with the relationship between Lou and Patrick? It just was? It's a solid flick but it's not original or moving enough to touch my heart deeply or inspire me. And I felt a serious subject was preseneted a little too lightly. Everything was oversimplified. If you're a girl and not as demanding as I am, I think you will find this film adorable and bittersweet. Emilia Clarke does not disappoint and the movie is still enjoyable to watch. 3/5

Hello July!

Can you believe half of the year 2016 is already gone?

I hope you're not panicking as I was last year. Well it was a few months later, not after 6 months, but I felt like year 2015 sort of slipped away from me and I didn't do as much as I wanted. This year I decided to go to action right away and I feel really good so far.

The golas are little ones and they vary (some are related with taking care of mysef, others to our home, etc.). The most important thing for me is that I'm back in action.

For example I renew my library card and borrowing books again, we went hiking a few times already, I donated blood, surprised my love for his b-day, walked almost 35 km long route around Ljubljana, we bought an amazing bed, had a few one day trips to new places, went to concert, tried suping, tasted new foods, ran for charity, went to a various seminars related to my work and so on.

And I'm not done of course! :) Right now I'm finally back on track with my training (running) and I'm excited about new ideas and plans.

How is your year going? Have a great second half of the year!
