In Pittsburgh five innocent people were shot dead by an expert sniper. The police, headed by Detective Emerson (Richard Jenkins) quickly identify shoter. Prime suspect is a former U.S. Army sniper James Barr (Joseph Sikora). He claims he's innocent and on the piece of paper writes "Get Jack Reacher." Jack (Tom Cruise) sees news on tv and turns up in the city. Meanwhile Emerson's daughter Helen Rodin (Rosamund Pike) is James's defence attorney and is trying to save him from the death penalty. Helen propose she can arrange for Jack to see the evidence if he will become her lead investigator and so we find out there's more to the story that it seems.

I was quite surprised with the movie because it's not bang bang fast pointless action but more triller mystery investigation crime type of story. Nevertheless, plot is too obvious but still exciting to watch. At times movie's dynamics is a bit slow, yet not boring, although I still think movie is a bit too long. I like that main protagonist have a connection but they don't cross the line. It's also interesting how movie touches several real world issues without being moralistic (legal representation for murderers, gun control, corruption). Movie is solid, worth to watch but I wasn't fully convinced. 3+/5
