Weekly health tip: If it motivates you. Do it!

New week, new healthy tip! We all know that motivation is key but sometimes it's hard to stay motivated (in fitness and in life in general). Well, there are ways!

WHY?
''Keep going, don’t quit!'' We all hear that often. But why? The difference between those who reach their goals and those who don’t is staying motivated. If you’re motivated, you’ll keep going. And if you keep going, eventually you’ll reach your goal!

More reasons to stay motivated: confidence (more you accomplish, the more you’ll believe in yourself), gives you purpose, soon you'll fit into that dress, you are in control of your life, etc.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU?
We're all different so it is important you ask yourself what motivates you? For example. I love to check tasks off my to-do list and I'm much more productive if I create one. Daily task or fitness plan, when I can make a ✓ (check mark) it feels so good!

Another thing that motivates me are quotes (as you know). They inspire me and raise my energy! I also get ideas for new challenges and goals by looking at fitness clothes, yummy healthy foods, etc. Reading and watching healthy stuff generates my motivation. And if you don't know where to start - go on pinterest! :)

The last thing to understand is that motivation is like food. You need daily intake! It's not something you reach and than have because it stays with you forever.

I hope you've start your week motivated!

Movie review - Bad Words (2013)

Bad Words (2013) / comedy

Directed by Jason Bateman (directorial debut)

Entertaining combo of vulgar and heartwarming!

PLOT
A 40-year-old Guy Trilby (Jason Bateman) finds a loophole and attempt to win the Golden Quill spelling bee as an adult. Along the way, his friend reporter Jenny (Kathryn Hahn) wants to get his story. While parents are furious how come he's allow competing, we are more and more interested in why Guy wants to win the bee so badly. He also starts to hang out with a young contestant Chaitanya Chopra (Rohan Chand) whom he exposes to the wilder side of life, while learning a little about himself.

REVIEW
Nice directorial debut from Jason who also stars in the film. And he's great (again)! Together with his co-star, young Rohan they did a wonderful job. Jason's character is kind of an as*hole when dealing with small children but he pulled off the near impossible task of being a jerk while keeping the tone funny rather than offensive. And you care about him and what will happen next. I found the bond betweeen Jason and Rohan funny, not creepy. When it comes to plot, there is nothing too special but still a fine interesting story. It's sweet and unexpectedly dark comedy with some inappropriate interactions. If you are easily offended you might be shocked or uncomfortable on several occasions but it's just shamelessly funny film and more than a rude comedy. Unfortunately I got the feeling there is a lack of understanding in the language of this film. I leave it to your judgement but for me was one of the better comedies I have seen this year and think it is really enjoyable refreshing flick! 4/5

Movie review - Better Living Through Chemistry (2014)

Better Living Through Chemistry (2014) / comedy, drama

Directed and Written by David Posamentier and Geoff Moore
Produced by Felipe Marino and Joe Neurauter
Starring: Sam Rockwell, Olivia Wilde, Michelle Monaghan, Ben Schwartz, Ken Howard, Ray Liotta, Jane Fonda
Trailer: click.

Nothing new, nothing funny, but Sam is great!

PLOT
Small town pharmacist Douglas Varney (Sam Rockwell) is tired of his uneventful life, his bitchy wife Kara (Michelle Monaghan) and don't really take time for their distant 12-year-old son Ethan (Harrison Holzer). He spirals out of control when he starts an affair with a trophy wife customer Elizabeth (Olivia Wilde) who takes him on a joyride involving sex and drugs. They want to run away together but one of them may change their mind.

REVIEW
Well... let's just say actors are trying very hard to make this a nice little comedy (Sam is really good) but sadly their hard work is pretty much wasted. Film strives to be some kind of witty cool comedy-drama but it's just not. Nothing that we haven't seen before, rare funny moments, unnecessary Jane Fonda narration. After first 15 minutes you're like: 'I can't watch this crap anymore', but when you go on, it gets a little better, the ending and the message are solid. Some twists were also not clichéd and I appreciate that. Still, average flick that you can forget easily. You need to take chances in life but I'm not sure you need to take chance on this film. 3-/5

Movie review - Tracks (2013)

Tracks (2013) / adventure, biography, drama

Directed by John Curran
Screenplay by Marion Nelson
Based on Tracks by Robyn Davidson
Produced by Iain Canning and Emile Sherman
Starring: Mia Wasikowska, Adam Driver, Roly Mintuma
Trailer: click.

Authentic adventure!

PLOT
An adaptation of Robyn Davidson's memoir of the same name. In 1977 a determined young woman Robyn (Mia Wasikowska) travels from Alice Springs across 2,700 kilometres (1,700 miles) of Australian deserts to the Indian Ocean accompanied by camels and her dog Diggity. Sponsored by National Geographic magazine, photographer Rick Smolan (Adam Driver) documents her nine-month journey.

REVIEW
Classic travel book has finally made it on screen. I love the film for many reason but main three are: beautiful cinematography (wonderful shots of the outback), Mia's tremendous performance and authentic honest raw feel that movie offers. No drama or stereotypes, but quiet profound film. It's also a character study. Robyn doesn't connect with today's lifestyle, she want to be alone, find herself and reach her goal. We learn some information about Robyn's motivations in undertaking this adventure during the course of the film (flashbacks) and realise that even in isolation you need a companionship. Very good film with an ending that break my heart. 4/5

Movie review - The Bling Ring (2013)

The Bling Ring (2013) / biography, crime, drama

Directed and Written by Sofia Coppola
Based on The Suspects Wore Louboutins by Nancy Jo Sales
Produced by Roman Coppola, Sofia Coppola and Youree Henley
Starring: Katie Chang, Israel Broussard, Emma Watson, Claire Julien, Taissa Farmiga, Leslie Mann, Georgia Rock, Carlos Miranda, Gavin Rossdale, Stacy Edwards
Trailer: click.

Interesting concept, horrible execution!

PLOT
Quiet teenager Marc Hall (Israel Broussard) arrives as a new student at Indian Hills High School, California. He is befriended by fame-obsessed Rebecca Ahn (Katie Chang) and starts to hang out with her friends Nicki (Emma Watson), her adopted sister Sam (Taissa Farmiga) and Chloe (Claire Julien). They begin breaking and entering in celebrity houses and stealing from them (jewelry, shoes, cash, etc) but as always. There are consequences.

REVIEW
There is just no real point in telling this uninteresting story. Bunch of already rich teenagers are obsessed with celebrity fancy lifestyle and are now robbing their houses. About six times before they get caught. I understand this is hot current issue and trash culture aspect (smilar to Spring Breakers). Kids are obsessed with celebs, the most important thing is to look fab and taking selfies. Wannabes. The more ridiculous and narcissistic you are, the more likes you're going to get. We get that and it is a problem but this story just has no conflict whatsoever and no real explanations. Were this teens really with no opinions and no difficulties on their own? Beside the fact they want to live like stars and be famous we don't get to know them. Are they really brainwashed, shallow, one dimensional characters? If disaffection from them was intentional the situation is even worse. Because stupid or teen, they are still humans. And how are celebrities affected by these actions? Execution of this film is terribly bland, superficial and disappointing but there are solid performances by Emma and Katie. If emptiness is rather the point of the film than there is no point of seeing the film. 2/5

Last week's favorite looks (June 15 - 22)

Time for my last week's favorite looks (June 15 - 22) again!

Starting with two simple casual outfits. Kristen Stewart wore a ''Mr. Science Sh-t'' t-shirt and James jeans while stepping out to run some errands in Los Angeles. Emily VanCamp also in a simple t-shirt with blue jeans and  sneakers while grabbing some groceries in LA.

Taylor Swift puts her toned tummy on display in a crop top while arriving back at her apartment in New York City. She wore lovely Aqua crop top and skirt.

Alessandra Ambrosio enjoys an ice cream with Jamie Mazur and their adorable pup Lola in Brentwood, California.

Eva Longoria in white chic ensemble and Yosi Samra sandals in West Hollywood and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley trendy while arriving on a flight at LAX Airport in Los Angeles.

Moving on to event styles. Behati Prinsloo celebrated Victoria's Secret win of the Consumer's Choice awards for their XO Victoria fragrance at the Fragrance Awards. She looked radiant in Juan Carlos Obando dress with a plunging neckline and jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz. I also love her hair and make up.

Maria Sharapova attended a photocall to launch the new Sugarpova Pinkberry topping at Selfridges in London, England. She wore a black Self-Portrait Freya sleeveless dress, Sophia Webster Nola sandals with a red trim and gold earrings.

Jessica Alba rocks a Topshop tropical scuba midi skirt with vibrant blue sleeveless top and white Manolo Blahnik pumps while visiting Fox & Friends at FOX Studios in New York City. Fresh and flirty!

Jennifer Lopez made a guest appearance on the Wendy Williams Show continuing her promotion of new album A.K.A. She wore Fausto Puglisi look, a multicoloured patchwork ‘Statue of Liberty’ sweater styled with the same multicoloured skirt. Love this combo!

Movie review - A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014)

A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014) / comedy, western

Directed by Seth MacFarlane
Written by Seth MacFarlane, Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild
Produced by Seth MacFarlane, Scott Stuber and Jason Clark
Starring: Seth MacFarlane, Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried, Neil Patrick Harris, Giovanni Ribisi, Sarah Silverman, Liam Neeson, Christopher Hagen, Wes Studi, Rex Linn, Alex Borstein, Ralph Garman
Trailer: click.

Overlong. Forgettable. Comedy?

PLOT
The town of Old Stump, Arizona in 1882. Sheep farmer Albert Stark (Seth MacFarlane) is dumped by his girlfriend Louise (Amanda Seyfried) as a result of his withdrawal from a duel. He prepares to leave for San Francisco but he meets Anna (Charlize Theron) and decide to win Louise back. What he doesn't know is that Anna is a runaway wife of an outlaw Clinch Leatherwood (Liam Neeson) who doesn't treat her well while Louise has moved on with Foy (Neil Patrick Harris). Will he get her back?

REVIEW
The film offers a few laughs and there are some amusing cameos. That's all. Seth MacFarlane just can't set up a visual joke properly without resorting to head-butting or something raunchy inappropriate (that you've probably seen before). It's kind of a western parody with non stop toilet humor. Lazy uninspired script, soulless one-dimensional characters, predictable plot (if you can call it that) and overall just a waste of time. Acting was solid except Seth. I didn't think he was believe strong lead and I don't quite understand why would you even care about his character? Overlong forgettable western comedy attempt that fails miserably. 2/5

Weekly health tip: Set small goals!

New week, new tip! I decided to postpone my weekly health tip on Mondays. Some people like to indulge on weekends so I hope my tip on Mondays will inspired and motivated you to start the week clean and healthy.

This week my weekly health tip is one of those I'm working on right now and that is to set smaller goals. Yes, I have ultimate long term workout goal and that is to stay active and fit through my whole life but I'm totally forgetting how important it is to set a smaller fitness goals.

WHY
Just think about it. Many times we set a huge goal like to lose 10 kilos (20 pounds) or exercise for an hour six days a week, only to fall off the wagon a few weeks later? The truth is that even when we have the best of intentions and the willpower to set out and do something grand... without a plan and a smart goal, unfortunately we are more likely to fail.

Focusing on small steps will help you stay on track and achieve the results you want long term. Achieve little victories for big results.

HOW
Set a monthly and/or weekly goal, like: I will work out 5 days this week or I will try 2 new workouts/classes I have never taken this week! You'll see results and feel great. Meanwhile the big goal is usually so far away that we lose focus and motivation.

DON'T FORGET
Reward yourself! Don't reward yourself with food, but start setting aside $10 or $15 each week that you reach your weekly goal. When you reach your monthly goal treat yourself with something nice for yourself. A new book, a new workout top, a one day trip, a massage, etc. The reward should be a time where you compliment yourself for your hard work and revel in your success.

Continually reaching small achievable goals is the key to long-term success! So set smaller goals and don't give up!
