Just a few of my thoughts
As usual, I was very happy for some while I'm quite disappointed and very upset that some didn't get nominated. I'm most excited for...
- Breaking Bad & amazing cast: Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul and Anna Gunn. Plus amazing writers and direction! On the other hand I'm annoyed Dean Norris wasn't nominated! Again!
- Sherlock: His Last Vow & Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. Plus writing and direction of course! They are brilliant!
- The Normal Heart & Mark Ruffalo, Matt Bomer, Joe Mantello, Alfred Molina, Jim Parsons and Julia Roberts. The movie, Matt, Alfred and Julia are the standouts for me.
- Modern Family & Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen. Modern Family still brings us lots of fun. This year Sofía Vergara wasn't nominated :(
- Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. I love them both but Jay Leno should be on that list as well!
What else?
- Fargo is now definitely also on my watchlist.
- Homeland and Girls were not nominated and I agree because both last seassons can't compare to previous that were far better.
- There is a lot of talk about the Emmys' oversight of many series once again e.g. Orphan Black and the show star Tatiana Maslany, The Americans, highly popular The Walking Dead, Pretty Little Liars, etc. There is not enough room and it makes me angy too. The same goes when it comes to performances. People like Michael Emerson (Person of Interest) have done a wonderful performance but it's obvious that he is in the wrong show (on the wrong channel). And Michael is just one of many cases where acting is worth recognition but the show is not 'good enough' for the Emmys. That really pisses me off! Same goes with teen shows. Pretty Little Liars' star also wrote a guest column article about ignoring teen shows for a special Emmy issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine. You can read it here.
