PLOT
The city of Philadelphia gets runover by something, that can only be described as zombies. A former UN employee Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt), his wife Karin (Mireille Enos) and their two daughters barely escaepe to Newark when it becomes clear that the situation is spreading rapidly and cannot be contained. Eventually they get rescued by military and flown to one of the only remaining safe places on Earth, a U.S. Navy vessel in the Atlantic. As the scientists on board try to figure out the outbreak, one plausible theory is, that the "plague" is actually a virus that could be defeated if the origin of the desease is found. It is up to Gerry to take lead on the mission and lead the scientist to the point of origin. The world's faith depends on him.
REVIEW
Most of apocalyptic films to me seems on the border of impossible but World War Z actually makes sense. While in the first part of the film there is a lot of action, second part transforms to more horror side. Despite movie had a lot of good qualities: realistic point of view, massive scale of zombies yet surprisingly bloodless, great acting, action and direction, ok script but somehow it's still average in a way and you're left wanting more. The thing I missed most: there wasn't much heart in this film. I know many of book fans were disappointed because film diverges significantly from the original book (don’t expect the adaptation of the book), there is not much originality but still, it's very enjoyable and a must see zombie film! 4/5
