PLOT
Loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale The Snow Queen, Frozen is the 53rd animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series. Film focuses on princess Elsa (Idina Menzel), and her younger sister Anna (Kristen Bell). Elsa possesses the magical ability to create ice and snow but one night while playing, she accidentally injures Anna. Afraid of hurting her sister again, Elsa spends most of her time alone in her room, causing a rift between the girls as they grow up. But that kind of relationship can't last forever when their parents die at sea during a storm. When Elsa comes of age, the kingdom prepares for her coronation but can she handle the pressure and forgive herself for her action in past?
REVIEW
The best animated film in 2013 is sweet but honestly I wasn't impressed like I'm used to (it's a good movie but not a great one). First positive impression. The story is touching and relatable with good music and gorgeous visuals (full of beautiful landscapes and pretty dresses). I liked Elsa, the unique main co-protagonist and main heroine of the movie and that the story centers more on the sisters relationship than a romantic ones (they seemed contrived to me). Movie offers you comedy, action adventure and romance but their balance is so-so. Side characters, snowman Olaf and reindeer Sven are cool but just not enough. On the downside. Predictability. Storyline is inconsistent and unclear (we don't get to know from where Elsa's magical powers to freeze things/create snow even exist, etc.). I also think Elsa should have more scenes (especially in palace that she creates). The ending could also be bigger. But mybe the most important thing is that Disney still captures the magic and nevertheless, it is a beautiful animation, definitely worth watching! 4/5
