PLOT
An adaptation of Robyn Davidson's memoir of the same name. In 1977 a determined young woman Robyn (Mia Wasikowska) travels from Alice Springs across 2,700 kilometres (1,700 miles) of Australian deserts to the Indian Ocean accompanied by camels and her dog Diggity. Sponsored by National Geographic magazine, photographer Rick Smolan (Adam Driver) documents her nine-month journey.
REVIEW
Classic travel book has finally made it on screen. I love the film for many reason but main three are: beautiful cinematography (wonderful shots of the outback), Mia's tremendous performance and authentic honest raw feel that movie offers. No drama or stereotypes, but quiet profound film. It's also a character study. Robyn doesn't connect with today's lifestyle, she want to be alone, find herself and reach her goal. We learn some information about Robyn's motivations in undertaking this adventure during the course of the film (flashbacks) and realise that even in isolation you need a companionship. Very good film with an ending that break my heart. 4/5
