Happy Birthday - Tom Hanks (57)

Happy 57th Birthday to one and only, Tom Hanks!

Actor with such a enviable career! Here are 10+ movies that you should definitely watch.

1. Forrest Gump (1994)
Directed by Robert Zemeckis, Tom played Forrest Gump

One of the all time best movies and cinematic perfection. Mix of drama and romance you must see.

2. Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (2011)
Directed by Stephen Daldry, Tom played Thomas Schell

Even though Tom's character is not main, I just love this film.

3. The Green Mile (1999)
Directed by Frank Darabont, Tom played Paul Edgecomb

Simply, must see film!

4. Toy Story series (1995, 1999, 2010)
Tom also lended his voice to cowboy Woody for Toy Story animated series. I know it's not live acting but because of Tom, Woody's character really had a heart and was brought to life.

5. Philadelphia (1993)
Directed by Jonathan Demme, Tom played Andrew Beckett

Another classic. Tough and controversial on the subject but worth watching!

6. Catch Me If You Can (2002)
Directed by Steven Spielberg, Tom played Carl Hanratty

Con-man being constantly chased by FBI agent. Leo and Tom were both great! Entertaining but well done film!

7. Apollo 13 (1995)
Directed by Ron Howard, Tom as Jim Lovell

Historical drama about the amazing crew, who had to use skill and dedication to make sure they returned home after problems occurred on their ship, leaving them stranded in outer space.

8. Cast Away (2000)
Directed by Robert Zemeckis, Tom played Chuck Noland

Another must see movie! It pulls you in and doesn't let you go until the very end.

9. The Terminal (2004)
Directed by Steven Spielberg, Tom as Viktor Navorski

Airport drama comedy. Serious in some ways but funny in others.

10. The Da Vinci Code (2006) & Angels & Demons (2009)
Directed by Ron Howard, Tom as Robert Langdon

Controversial films that attracted so many people.

Films also worth mentioning: Big (1988), Saving Private Ryan (19989, Sleepless in Seattle (1993), Road to Perdition (2002), You've Got Mail (1998), etc.

Tom is five time Academy Awards nominee, he won two, for roles in Philadelphia and Forrest Gump. He received seven Golden Globes nominations, he won four of them: Big, Philadelphia, Forrest Gump and Cast Away.

RECENT WORK
Last year we saw him in spiritual Cloud Atlas.
This year we'll see him in two biographical dramas Captain Phillips and Saving Mr. Banks.
Future: in drama In the Garden of Beasts, The Lost Symbol and maybe even in Toy Story 4 (film is not confirmed yet).

I think Tom's work speaks for itself and I just hope he'll continue on his amazing work! Happy Birthday Tom and best of luck in the future!
