Triumph of style over substance!

PLOT
Astronaut Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving them completely alone, tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness while attempting to return to Earth.

REVIEW
Let me get this straight. Yes, it's amazing movie when it comes to many things: cinematography, visual effects and acting. Technically dazzling film for sure but I wouldn't say it's appealing to audience (it's just not relatable). And the story and the script were so weak! Apart from this minor bit, nothing is presented in terms of character development for any protagonists except Ryan. The film won 7 Oscars and other various awards, achieved universal acclaim from critics but part of me thinks this was/is one of the most overrated movies in 2013. Still, worth watching if you appreciate the movie magic! 4/5
