PLOT
American independent biographical drama tells a story about a real-life AIDS patient, rodeo cowboy Ron Woodroof (Matthew McConaughey) who learns he only has 30 days left to live but takes things into his own hands and. He starts to smuggle unapproved pharmaceutical drugs into Texas when he founs them effective at improving his symptoms, distributing them to fellow sufferers by establishing the Dallas Buyers Club while facing opposition from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). On his journey a big part of the story are Dr. Eve Saks (Jennifer Garner) and Rayon (Jared Leto), a drug addict and HIV-positive trans woman, toward whom he is hostile at the beginning.

REVIEW
I'm going to start with saying that film is wonderful cinematic experience! Powerful straightforward story, good screenplay, compelling themes (terminal illness, government regulations, homophobia, intolerance) and excellent performances by Matthew and Jared are just a few reasons why I loved this movie. The sense of realism, raw emotion, how you feel for the protagonist who is quite unlikeable but he's so determined to fight back... brilliant acting and moving story. Great balance of drama, charm, humour, sadness and hope. My only negative criticism would be that certain details important to the plot seem glossed over and people's circumstances simplified. 4/5
