Academy Awards 2014: recap

You already know who the 2014 Oscar winners are (click), so now I invite you to read my Academy Awards 2014 recap.

THE HOST
Ellen DeGeneres did a great job! The opening monologue was good and she was relaxed (or so it seemed). I love how sweet she is, her non-offensive jokes but still funny and edgy. Love her!

THE AWARDS
So predictable. And because of that, a bit boring.

BEST SPEECHES:
- emotional one: Jared Leto (click) and Lupita Nyong'o (click)

- creative/funny one: Robert Lopez and his wife, Kristen Anderson-Lopez (click). They 'sang' their acceptance speech after they won best original song for Let It Go. Robert joined the exclusive club of EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Tony and now Oscar) winners. Congrats once again!

- critical one: Cate Blanchett (click). For some it's a bit annoying but I think all actors should speak up! I definitely want to see more female lead actresses!

And most positive thing: there were no interrupted speeches! Can you belive it?! Finally!

MUSIC
I loved all four performances for best original song:
* Pharrell Williams sing Happy (click) and got Lupita Nyong'o, Amy Adams and Meryl Streep to dance with him;
* Karen O and Vampire Weekend‘s Ezra Koenig performed beautiful The Moon Song from Her (click);
* U2 performed Ordinary Love (click) from Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom and even get a standing ovation;
* Idina Menzel performed winning song Let It Go from Frozen (click).

Pink was great as well for Wizard of Oz tribute.

BEST MOMENTS:
- when Ellen took a selfie with Hollywood's biggest stars from the audience and tweeted it. You can imagine response was enormous.

- when pizza guy came. Brad Pitt was kindly passing plates.

- John Travolta had a tough time with the pronounciation of Idina Menzel‘s name while presenting her performance. Lol.
