Weekly health tip: Get enough sleep!

Another pretty basic tip but so important for you and your body. Get enough sleep!

Sleeping not only makes you feel better but its importance goes way beyond.

WHY?
Because sleeping improves your memory, keeps your heart healthy, reduces inflammation, encourage creativity, lower stress, sharpen attention, bolsters your metabolism, etc. We all know how good it is to sleep well and how different we feel and react when we are rejuvenate!

On the other hand sleeping depravation decrease performance and alertness, impair your memory and your cognitive ability, increases risk of sustaining an occupational injury and may also cause significant problems for the relationships. You know lack of sleep can affect your mood and increase hormonal stress levels which will have a negative impacts.

HOW?
It's very important not just to sleep but to sleep quality! The best for our bodies is to keep a regular sleeping schedule, spend more time outside during daylight, then turn off your television and computer when in bed. The bedroom should be quiet, dark, a bit colder and comfortable. A relaxing bedtime rituals like reading or listening to music are worth trying. Of course qulity of a sleep also depends on what you've eaten during the day (especially for dinner) and when was your last caffeine/alcohol intake. But I'm sure you already know all this stuff.

How much sleep is enough?
Well... this is one of those internal questions. People who sleep around 6,5 to 7,5 hours a night tend to live longest but I think that depends on other variables as well. And more than anything, you should listen to your body.

Don't forget you should get plenty of sleep and even more so if you are doing hard training. Nighty night! ;)
