The Call (2013) /  thriller

Trailer: click.

Jordan Turner (Halle Berry) is a 911 operator and you can only imagine, that this type of work requires a lot of psychological skills. We also get to know Jordan's boyfriend, officer Paul Phillips (Morris Chestnut), with whom operators cooperate. One night Jordan recives a call from a teenage girl Leah (Evie Thompson) and does a mistake that really throws her off, so she decides to stop working as an operator and insteads trains future 911 operators. And while she's giving new team a tour of the facilities, a rookie operator Brooke (Jenna Lamia), receives the call which she can't handle and Jordan steps in. The call is from a teena girl Casey Welson (Abigail Breslin) who was kidnapped from a mall parking garage by a man Michael (Michael Eklund). Because the girl is calling from a disposable phone they cannot track her down. Will Jordan manage to stay strong and help this girl after events that happen six months ago?

Thriller with horror and action parts is definitely something new and really watchable. It was interesting to see how operators work and what type of calls they get. And the ideas and help they offer were kind of educational (what to do in some scenarios). Movie pulls you in and it keeps a good pace of tension. You're constantly interested in what'll happen next. Acting is very good (especially the main trio: Halle Berry, Abigail Breslin and Michael Eklund), villain becomes ever more creepy as the plot progresses (I also like background story and knowing he's not just a random maniac) and everything just works. But belive it or not all that good work is ruined in last 15 minutes when Jordan leaves the operating center and tries to find the girl by herself. I was actually quite angry because of it (I don't want to give anything away, but you'll see what I mean). Nevertheless I would still recommend watching this film because it's good thriller movie. 3/5
