Sandy Patterson (Jason Bateman) gets a call from Diana (Melissa McCarthy), a woman claiming that someone just attempted to steal his identity. While the gullible Sandy is relieved that everything is OK, he generauly provides Diana with all information she needs to do just that. Sandy doesn't have a clue of what is going on despite weird thing happening to him. When he's arrested by Detective Reilly (Morris Chestnut) everything starts to make sense. They make a deal that he'll go to Florida, find fake Sandy and bring her to justice. Of course she's not just going to say yes that simply? Or maybe he'll be the one who'll change his mind?

If I had to sum up the movie in a few words it would be: Predictable, raunchy and not funny. It lacks originality and ironically, it's own identity. And if you think this is a comedy where you're going to laugh hard, you're wrong (beside few exceptions here and there). I love wicked comedies like Due Date, Bridesmaids and Horrible Bosses but this one is nothing close. What saves the film are Jason and Melissa (they are great) but that's about it. Movie is also too long, muddled but somehow you get through. But we all know that the point of a movie is not to get through but to have a good time and enjoy in it. That certainly didn't happend during watching Identity Thief. And while we're on the subject of thieves... the thing that's actually being stolen is your precious time. 2+/5
