Warm Bodies (2013) / romance, comedy, horror

After a zombie apocalypse, R (Nicholas Hoult) is an unusual zombie who thinks too much and he's sick of his existence. Zomies travel in packs and have two enemies: humans and skeletal zombies who have shed their humanity and are called Bonies. Like others he craves human brains, because with them he is able to feel alive through the memories of their former owners. On the other side we have a leader of the human group, Colonel Grigio  (John Malkovich), who sends his daughter Julie Grigio (Teresa Palmer), her boyfriend Perry Kelvin (Dave Franco) and a group of friends to recover medical supplies from abandoned buildings. There they clash with zombies and romance between R and Julie arises. R feels the girl set a spark in him, while she's not to sure why he didn't kill her. Their relationship progresses but is there any real chance for love amongst a zombie and a human?

After teen Twilight has ruined the images of vampires, here comes a romantic zombie comedy. Yep, that's right. When you start watching it, it's a bit odd. You're not sure if they're serious or is it parody? But when you get use to quirkiness and embrace it, film is an enjoyable ride. Plot is not totally typical and it's nice to see zomie's point of view of the story. R's inner dialogues are funny and charming, both main characters are adorable not cheesy, chemistry is there. I must say, all the actors deserve commendation because they did a wonderful job. Film is sweet, funny but also with some action and horror. Some things could be done even better but many of them could be way worse. I belive many of you're sceptical about the movie but give it a shot (you may be surprised). Definitely something new which is rare these days, where we've a feeling that all has been seen before. And no, it's not Twilight junk. 4-/5
